General Overview

The Director of Operations is a foundational leader for Flock & Fresh, responsible for building and overseeing all aspects of operational excellence in our growing quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand. This role is strategic and hands-on, to develop and implement systems, processes, and standards that align with our mission: that health comes from holistic ingredients, a meal made with love, and the company you keep. The Director will guide General Managers and cross-functional teams to drive performance, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and achieve operational and financial goals, all while cultivating a culture rooted in care, collaboration, and excellence.

Essential Functions

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains operations leadership and staff.
  • Oversee daily operations across the brand’s locations and provide direct leadership to General Managers.
  • Delivers timely and constructive performance feedback and development plans.
  • Manages corrective action and terminations in alignment with brand policy and core values.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a strategic and operational leader, establishing key objectives and executing brand-wide initiatives that align with Flock & Fresh’s vision.
  • Build from the ground up: develop systems, tools, and processes to guide operational standards, opening procedures, training, reporting, and guest experience.
  • Lead, coach, and empower General Managers to elevate store performance, ensure team engagement, and provide outstanding guest service.
  • Leverage tools such as P&Ls, labor models, inventory systems, and KPI dashboards to diagnose challenges and scale best practices across locations.
  • Partner in the development of store-level budgets and ensure ongoing monitoring and improvement of labor, food costs, and controllable expenses.
  • Promote and maintain a safe and compliant workplace; ensure food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety protocols are upheld and always modeled.
  • Champion a people-first culture by identifying team strengths, closing skill gaps, and investing in the development and growth of emerging leaders.
  • Act as a key brand steward, proactively identifying operational risks or brand-impacting challenges and implementing resolution strategies.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support sustainable brand growth.  

Major Responsibilities / Specific Requirements

 

  • Proven ability to set, drive, and exceed performance goals, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Inspirational leadership style with a clear ability to mentor and elevate a diverse team of General Managers.
  • In-depth operational expertise in QSR or restaurant environments, including experience with multi-unit leadership.
  • High comfort with ambiguity; thrives in a startup environment where adaptability, resilience, and innovation are key.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to deliver clear expectations, performance feedback, and strategic insight to all levels of the business.
  • Resourceful problem-solver who proactively removes roadblocks and finds solutions that prioritize both guest and team member experience.

Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of operational leadership experience in a restaurant, retail, or hospitality setting, including five (5) + years of multi-unit leadership.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong familiarity with restaurant software systems (POS, BOH platforms, labor management, inventory control).
  • Experience with OSHA, EEOC, and applicable federal/state labor laws.
  • ServSafe Certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.
